Me, Jen, Malia, and My cousin Nichole went to California at the beginning of july to go to my cousin Precious' wedding. We went and spent two nights at our condo in Las Vegas and then drove down to Oceanside, California. We arrived there at our MOTEL 6. Jen and Nichole had looked it up online and seen pictures and it didn't look too bad, so they decided to book it. Bad idea. We had gotten there and it looked like a run down place where we could get diseases from sleeping in the beds. BLEH. Jen, Malia, and I are spoiled to have the opportunities to stay in our condo's as much as we have, so we're not used to hotels, let alone motels. We decided that we wanted to spend the least amount of time possible in that place so offwe went to the beach. when we came back we all were getting ready. We crammed into the little tiny bathroom, malia was in the little triangle bathtub. As I was walking into the bathroom to join them I all of a sudden had this HUGE pain in my foot between my big toe and the next one. The best way that I can explain the pain is a sliver on extreme roids. It was horrible. I was trying and trying to figure out what had happened making everyone examine my foot. Malia, while still in the tub, said "Maybe it's that thing on the floor." I ignored her thinking "whatever, my foot hurts."
As I continued to have everyone examine my foot, malia got out of the tub and declared yet again, "Court, really, maybe it IS this thing on the floor." I looked and it was a SCORPION!!! I couldn't believe it, I'd actually just gotten stung by a scorpion. My cousin, in effort to calm me down, told me the smaller it is the less poisonous. However, when I told my mom what had happened she told me the opposite and since the scorpion was barely the size of two pennies, it would be possibly extremely poisonous and we needed to go to the emergency room. I decieded that I should go ask the guy at the front desk if he has had this happen before. But I couldn't even make it down to the front desk, the pain was so excruciating and my foot had become nearly completely numb. I went back to the room, grabbbed everyone and we were off. When we got to the emergency room the girl at the front desk was snotty and obviously way into herself. She could care less about any of the patients and was too worried about her fake nails getting ruined.
When they finally called my name we walked outside of the hospital, and back in through another door...WEIRD, but whatever. They put me in the little room with a curtain around me. The nurse came in, asked me what was wrong, and as I proceeded to tell her she examined my foot. She pointed out that there wasn't much swelling--which I later found out was because scorpion stings don't swell. She then told me, and I quote, "Well I guess I'll just have to take your word for it." As if she thought I was lying. I told her my foot was completely numb and jen showed her the picture of the scorpion. She still didn't seem to believe us, said I guess I'll have to believe you and walked out leaving me and jen alone with the vital's machine still running, beeping annoyingly.
I later heard her and the doctor talking about iit laughing. I was upset that I wasn't being treated right and when the billing lady came in I asked her if there was anyway Iu could leave, pretend like this never happened, and come bacck if it got worse....I ended up leaving and delt with a numb foot for the next 2 days of my vacation. BLEH STUPID TRI-CITY HOSPITAL!!!---pictures will come later.
